The 6th Annual National PREA Coordinators Conference was a huge success! Some 250 practitioners from adult and juvenile Federal, State, County, Local, Private, and Community Corrections agencies across 47 states, Puerto Rico, and America Samoa overcame travel woes and the lingering challenges from a worldwide computer crash to get to the conference.
We spent the better part of the week in Buffalo, New York, participating in workshops covering topics in investigations, prosecutorial relationships, trauma-informed practices, staff wellness, and culture change to improve safety for all who live and work in our facilities.
The National PREA Coordinator Working Group thanks the NYS Department of Corrections and Community Supervision for their support this year, Commissioner Daniel F. Martuscello III for his opening remarks, and our partners at the PREA Management Office, the National PREA Resource Center, The Moss Group, and Just Detention International, in addition to so many other subject matter experts, for valuable contributions.
We look forward to seeing everyone in Madison, Wisconsin, July 29-31, 2025.
Our purpose is to facilitate collaboration among agency-wide PREA Coordinators and to serve as a collective voice for these correctional professionals on important policy and practice matters.

Through conferences and other professional events, as well as open and honest dialogue with oversight and outreach entities, we advance the work of PREA Coordinators, PREA Compliance Managers, Investigators, and others who combat custodial sexual victimization.
From our humble beginnings in early 2019 as a working group, we have reached hundreds of practitioners through annual conferences and other outreach to help elevate sexual safety in corrections, community confinement, and juvenile facilities. Through their collective work, we have delivered vital services to thousands of incarcerated people.
